Please read the information below carefully when providing samples
All samples to be handed in by 3.30pm or please wait until the next day.
FIRST VOID URINE (STI TEST)
Please collect the first urine sample of the day in a white topped specimen bottle.
Use the pipette to fill the smaller orange topped bottle so that the level sits within the window on the label being careful not to spill any the liquid from within the container during this process.
Disguard of the white topped specimen bottle flushing any left over urine down the toilet before throwing away.
Please hand the orange topped bottle in the specimen bag back to reception.
SELF TAKEN VAGINAL SWAB
Carefully remove the swab from the packaging.
Insert the soft tip about 5cm into the vagina and gently rotate the swab for 15-30 seconds.
Withdraw the swab without touching the skin.
For blue ended swabs remove the cap from the container and insert the swab till it seals.
For orange topped containers unscrew the cap and place the swab inside snapping at the serration on the plastic handle. Screw to the top back on being careful not to spill the liquid inside during this process.
Please nand the sample in a specimen bag back to reception.
STOOL (POO) SAMPLE
Please try and collect on the same day as handing in, if not on the day immediately prior to unless otherwise instructed.
Collect in blue topped container.
Tips for collection:
place something in the toilet to catch the poo such as a potty, empty clean plastic food container, or spread clean newspaper/plastic wrap over the rim of the toilet
make sure the poo doesn't touch the inside of the toilet
use the spoon or spatula that comes with the container to collect the poo, then screw the lid shut
wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm running water
URINE SAMPLE
Please collect a urine sample in a white topped specimen bottle, preferably from the same day as handing in.
Tips for collection:
start to pee and collect a sample of urine "mid-stream" in the container
screw the lid of the container shut
wash your hands thoroughly
